Flatback (Natator depressa)
Adults of this turtle may weigh as much as 198 pounds and measure 39 inches long. This turtle inhabits coastal coral reef and grassy shallows. It’s found in the northern coastal area of Australia and the Gulf of Papua, New Guinea. The Flatback nests up to 4 times per season. It lays an average of 50 eggs at time, but these are comparatively quite large.
The Australian flatback turtle is found only in Australia and Papua New Guinea.
